Our latest accomplishments.

We are very excited to announce that we will be Denver's first and only 100% dedicated gluten-free kitchen. This is a huge step we are taking and we are looking forward to serving our community in this unique way. This process is not an easy one, so if anyone would care to help us in any way possible please let us know. We need some help deep cleaning the kitchen and spreading the word about this exciting transformation of The Comfort Cafe. Since we opened on June 23rd 1010, The Comfort Cafe has served almost 30,000 meals, many to repeat customers. Our food costs have gone up significantly, our average donation per meal has gone down and the percentage of meals we are serving to those who can't afford to make a donation is rising steadily.  Our fixed costs, including rent, utilities and water are fair for the neighborhood, and quite high.

We went to the community for suggestions and help because we believe that you like what we are doing and that you want us to be a part of of the neighborhood landscape for many years to come.

We think we are correct about that.  Here are some of the great ideas that you came up with, and seem to have some energy for.

  • Community gardening and food preservation. This includes growing our own, partnering with community gardens, local farms and CSA's as well as individuals in the community, as well as preservation efforts so we can enjoy organic produce year round.  WE NEED VOLUNTEER GARDNERS & CANNERS The primary contact for this work is Gabe Adams at 303.885.1044
  • The "Pay It Forward" Club:  Several people have indicated their willingness to have the equivalent of the cost of one or more meals per month automatically transferred from their checking account each month.  Our goal is to sign 400 people on to this program with a $25 dollar donation by the end of June.
